Tajikistan and Pakistan share the region of the Wakhan Corridor. This country's eastern borders are adjacent to China, its southern borders meet Afghanistan, while Kyrgyzstan is located to its north and Uzbekistan to its west.


Tajikistan history

It was incorporated into the Soviet Union in 1929 and gained independence from Russia in 1991. Tajikistan is home to 80% Muslims and was given the status of a republic in 1929. Its territory stretches between the Caspian Sea and the Altai Mountains.

The official language of Tajikistan is Tajik, but in the capital, Dushanbe, Persian is predominantly spoken.


Sixty-four percent of the population lives in rural areas, while 36 percent resides in cities. Tajikistan is an industrial country with at least 400 industrial units operating. The capital of the Republic of Tajikistan is Dushanbe. Notable cities include Dushanbe and Khujand. The climate of this country is hot and dry.

Notable industries include tractor manufacturing, the production of cotton and silk fabrics, and machinery production. Famous handicrafts include jewelry, embroidery, and carpet weaving. Agricultural products include grains, fruits, and vegetables. Minerals found in Tajikistan include lead, mercury, zinc, and iron.
