The story of the tribe of Ad is often mentioned in the Qur'an along with the story of the tribe of samud.
Strength of Aad nation
The nation of 'Aad' had immense pride in their strength, health, and bodies. They believed that no one could defeat a powerful nation like theirs.
They were towering individuals who carved mountains to build homes, boasting of their strength and power.
Those who uprooted trees and threw them away were victims of a misconception, which led them to worship idols, engaging in polytheism.
Allah sent messenger to Nation of Aad:
Allah sent Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) towards them as a prophet to guide them, so that they may understand to worship only one God and continue to show gratitude to Allah.
Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) said to his people: "O my people, obey one God. If you obey your God, He will shower His complete mercy upon you.
Aad nation punishment
"They mocked Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) and started to show arrogance, so Allah enveloped them in His punishment, and they were swept away like scattered leaves in the wind, thus making them a sign of admonition for all.
And Allah Almighty saved Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) and those who believed in him from His punishment.
Conclusion:
They were a powerful and wealthy nation, known for their magnificent buildings and advanced agricultural arts, and were also noted for their stature and physical strength.
The people of Aad, though wealthy, were riotous and oppressive, and worshiped idols instead of the true God.
The people of Aad disobeyed Allah's commandments, and it was because of their sins that they were destroyed.
Their destruction came in the form of a severe storm, which lasted for seven nights and eight days. Their cities were destroyed, and their civilization crumbled, setting an example for future generations.
