Prophet Jesus ( Hazrat Essa as ) and the Story of the Dead Village
Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) once passed by a village and found it desolate, with its inhabitants decayed and lifeless. He was deeply surprised and remarked to his disciples, “These people seem to have faced the wrath and punishment of Allah.”
The disciples, curious to know the story of the village, requested, “O Spirit of Allah, can we learn what happened to these people?”
Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) prayed to Allah for guidance, and Allah revealed to him: “When night falls, call out to the people of the village, and they will respond to you.”
The Story of the Dead Village
That night, Prophet Jesus ( Hazrat Essa ) climbed a nearby hill and called out to the people of the village. To his surprise, one voice responded, saying, “Here I am, O Spirit of Allah.”
Prophet Jesus asked, “What is your story?”
The man replied, “We were a people consumed by love for the world and followed the ways of the wicked. At night, we slept peacefully, but by morning, we were overtaken by death.”
Prophet Jesus asked, “What was your love for the world like?”
The man answered, “It was like the love a child has for its mother. When the world came to us, we rejoiced, and when it left, we grieved and cried.”
Prophet Jesus then asked, “Why don’t your companions respond?”
The man replied, “Powerful angels have bound them with reins of fire. As for me, I am among them outwardly but not one of them in truth. When the punishment came, I was also caught in it. Now, I hang on the brink of Hell, uncertain whether I will be saved or cast into the Fire.”
